If I had to be a character from one of the two plays, it would be...

Hedda or Maria Joesfa becuase no one can tell them what to do, not even society has restrictions on them. The thing that I like about these two women is that they fight for what they beleive, such as Maria wants to get marry and will not let Bernarda stand in her way or Hedda controls Tesman in order to get the valuables she wants. I like these characters because of their attitudes, what do u think.

Whats up with Hedda's power later on?

During the beginning of act 1, Hedda is this all dominating character with easily controlling her husband and using the pistols to symbolize power. Later on towards the beginning and act 4, she starts to lose her power with her husband ( the guy that says uh) who starts saying what she should do. What Ibsen trying to prove in this play, women were losing power in society, or men are too contolling.

Wagner would tear Tesman up.

"uh is a waste of your time, and more importantly my time" Wagner. If Tesman was a student of Wagner's he would blow Wagner up. lol, he may even quit teching here the amount of times George says, well, you know. Just that it was kind of funny when I remember Wagner after forgetting my folder!!! Wow, something good came out of this forgetting my folder, yeaaa.

Lövborg is a pretty cool character

Don't ask me why I'm writing this but, come on, he looks like a hero to me. Someone that was an alcoholic for a long period of time, and mention to fight it, and even is writing books and going for this new professorship. Out of all of the characters, he is the coolest so far, because that's like some who was getting a 1.2 GPA improving to a 3.6 GPA ( and yea, he's full IB). I mean thats how much more effort he has put in from his past focusing on the future. I beleive that everyone should follow his tps, not being an alcoholic, lol, no. I mean, if you dig yourself into a hole, you climb back out, come on, everyone has a ton of homework, and we manage to fight it through and be homework free, at least for a little while. Response to this please, and tell me what u think of me opinion.

Comparing and contrasting Lovburg and Tesman.

These characters are like opposites! Tesman is studying the past, while Lovburg focuses on the future, tesman is hoping for the professorship, although Lovburg is more likely, one is smart, the other.....confused. Lovburg has been looking towards the future with his new book, and professorship opening to take when Tesman is focusing on...yea, pretty much nothing. With Hedda now with Tesman, what does this say about her, she rather focus more on the past, then focusing on the future with Lovburg, I don't know, but Hedda was wih both of them, what do u think.

Which play did you like better, Bernarda or Hedda?

To be honest I wasn't two interested in either play, but if I had to choose one, it would be Bernarda because when reading Hedda, I felt that Ibsen was only writing to show motifs, symbolism, and authority, themes, etc, when in Bernarda, I could picture myself as Adela. I was always questioning my self, what would I do in her shoes, how can I rebel against my own mother. Also, Adella is around our (the class) age, so I guess we could all relate to her. I picture the characters in Hedda were proberly around their 30's, but I really liked the character Hedda, she remined me of judge Judy, lol. She's slways taking control and demanding to get what she wants, but that wasn't enough for me. I felt more into the play Bernarlda then Hedda, what do u think is better?

Re read Bernarda Alba and notice the color green to be a important motif

Didn't notice this the first time reading this as green symbloizes to me that oppression within the family. Like green is meant for Adela as dons a dress of dark green when everyone else wears black. I'm not sure what green stands for, but I took it as Adela wearing it, theorfore, concluded that it stood for oppression, thats all I have to say.

Whats up with these names?

Ok, I know that these names are not common in the 1930's and all of them are goofy. IDK, but is there some kind of deeper meaning that Ibsen is trying to prove because if I remember correctly, amelia means something like work. After checking wikipedia, it means "industrious" and "fertile". So is Ibsen trying to prove a point that their name are reflected in their character, because a lot could of been proven in papers that we all wrote.

Bernarda Alba Authority has control over whom?

When we were all reading Bernarlda Alba, I always thought that she has control over all of daughters, except Adela her mother, Maria. Even though they are like refusing to listen Bernarda, is it for the same reason? I thought that Adela was rebelling against Bernarda because of her age, she still has hopes and dreams at (I think) at age 17. I wouldn't listen to her either if I had to stay in a house for 8 years. The reason that Maria Joesfa is rebelling is to for two different reasons, one- to show her daughters that they can stand up to Bernarda, and two- she has nothing to lose at age 80. These are the only two characters I saw that stood up to Bernarlda, anyone else saw rebellion against Bernarda?
