Bernarda Alba Authority has control over whom?

When we were all reading Bernarlda Alba, I always thought that she has control over all of daughters, except Adela her mother, Maria. Even though they are like refusing to listen Bernarda, is it for the same reason? I thought that Adela was rebelling against Bernarda because of her age, she still has hopes and dreams at (I think) at age 17. I wouldn't listen to her either if I had to stay in a house for 8 years. The reason that Maria Joesfa is rebelling is to for two different reasons, one- to show her daughters that they can stand up to Bernarda, and two- she has nothing to lose at age 80. These are the only two characters I saw that stood up to Bernarlda, anyone else saw rebellion against Bernarda?

I agree with the reasons why Maria rebelled against Bernarda, but not so much for Adela. I remember the daughters being older than 17, but i could be wrong for the details of the play are a little vague. Regardless of her age, I believe Adela rebelled because of the fact she was locked up from the outside world. Her mother always kept them inside with the windows and doors closed. The heat is a symbol of sexual tension. While the daughters remained on the inside, the men were outside. Adela rebelled because she did not want to remain sexually locked up.
